In over 30 years of use in Australia there has been no evidence of physical degradation to soils from the long-term use of BIG N ® at normal agricultural application rates.

Research has shown that any effect on soil organisms is short-lived, with the introduced nitrogen helping maintain an active soil microbial population. This microbial action converts the ammonia molecules (NH₃) to the nitrate form (NO₃),making it available for plant uptake.

Zero Tillage
BIG N takes zero tillage to the next generation. Incitec Pivot has utilised a patented Cold Flo ™ technology which allows ammonia gas to be delivered to the soil as a liquid. By working closely with equipment manufacturers, application machinery has been adapted to enable BIG N Cold Flo to be used in a wide range of soil conditions and tillage practices including zero and minimum tillage to conserve soil moisture.

Many farmers have already adopted BIG N for zero and minimum till application. BIG N is as valuable as buried treasure and is suitable on most soil types and on bigger application timing windows.

Depending on the crop and seasonal conditions, BIG N can be applied preplant,
at planting or as a sidedress.  It is a perfect fit for both conservation and conventional tillage.
